2010 ADDITION TO THE DUCK STAMP SERIES

Being that duck hunting is one of the most prevalent sports in the country we thought it right to commemorate a shirt recognizing the sport and include some history in the design. In 1934 the US government passed the Migratory Bird Hunting Stamp Act, better known as the Federal Duck Stamp Act. This program required hunters to purchase a special stamp, in addition to a regular hunting license, to hunt migratory waterfowl. Revenues from the program provided the majority of funding for conservation for many decades and funded the purchase of the National Wildlife Refuge for waterfowl habitat. The Duck Stamp act has been described as ‘one of the most successful conservation programs ever devised’ and has ensured the safety of waterfowl populations for generations to come. Duck stamps have also become collectible items in their own right amongst collectors who appreciate the history and culture the stamps capture.
